Prayer

sunrise“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:11-13

When we pray we link into the heart of God, we bring our concerns about the things going on around us, in His world, and in our lives, because we acknowledge Him as a loving, all powerful God who is able to work miracles, and who longs to hear from us.

Would you like us to pray for you or for someone you love? Send a request to prayforme@allsaints.org.nz and the All Saints prayer team will uphold you in prayer.

Why prayer?

Jesus taught us a model of how to pray in The Lord’s Prayer (Matt 6:8 ff.) , but we can use our own prayers too. Jesus modelled this in his prayer for us, his disciples, in John 17. The Bible tells us we need to pray continually (1 Thess 5:17). This is because if we are continually turning our attention to God, then we should be bringing his perspective to all that we do and say. This kind of prayer is an attitude – a way of being. The Bible also tells us to pray for those in need (Eph 6:18), and that He will answer us (though we may not recognise that answer at the time).

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7, 8.

Prayer at All Saints

Morning Prayer occurs in the chapel on Tuesday mornings at 9:30am, and Friday at midday most weeks (except over summer holidays). Please join us.

After the 9am and 10.30 (or 10am) Sunday services there is opportunity to receive personal prayer ministry in the chapel. Trained prayer ministers will pray with you for your needs.

Get involved?

Since we are all called to pray, anyone can, and everyone should! There are many different ways you can be involved in prayer, from a personal quiet time with God to one of the areas described above. Everyone is welcome at the corporate prayer meetings.
